Dr. Donald C. (Donnie) Balmos
During his tenure at MCC, Donnie Balmos conducted the MCC Chorale, the Waco Civic Chorus, over 40 opera and musical productions, and also taught courses in piano, music theory and music literature. Prior to his appointment as Vice President of Instruction, he served as Dean of Arts and Sciences and Director of Visual and Performing Arts. He holds two degrees in Music Theory from Baylor University and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from The University of Texas at Austin. He has also served as Opening Notes lecturer and pianist for the Waco Symphony, music director at several area churches and musical director/conductor of the Waco Cotton Palace Pageant. He also was elected President of the Texas Association of Music Schools, an organization of administrators from all college and university music departments in the state of Texas. During his retirement years, he has chosen to teach Music Appreciation and share his passion for music with the non-musician.
